General Information
Naoto is the leader and co-founder of Orange Range; he started the band with childhood friend Katchan in Okinawa. His early band influences include Denki Groove and guitarist Kurumatani Koji. Naoto has two younger brothers who form together the techno group RYUKYUDISKO, the two being Tetsushi Hiroyama and Yosuke Hiroyama; due to this relationship, RYUKYUDISKO has often assisted Orange Range with remixes. Along with Orange Range, he is also a member of the bands Soy Sauce and Petunia Rocks. Naoto, for more than half of Orange Range songs, is the lyricist, composer, mixer, arranger, and is in charge of recording. As composer, his main instruments are the Clavia Nord Lead 2x, Macintosh (Mac), DigiTech TALKER, TR-909, microKONTROL. In May of 2007, Naoto started up a side-band called "delofamilia" (Naoto made the name up, it has no meaning), a "self-produced, experimental and electronic band". He added singer/songwriter Rei Fu to delofamilia some time later. Naoto eventually made a Twitter account, his username is @naotohiroyama.Under the name "NAOTO (ORANGE RANGE/delofamilia), he announced a collaboration with Ian Brown, vocalist of The Stone Roses, for "Always Remember Me" in 2009. On September 1, 2010, under the title "NAOTO from ORANGE RANGE", he held a limited distribution of his instrumental track "pages". On February 9, 2011, he released his second single "transfer", again using his alternative name "NAOTO from ORANGE RANGE". "Transfer" was produced as Orange Range was touring and producing. At "LUNA SEA 2011 ~ INORAN" support concert for victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, Naoto co-created and played guitar for "LOVE FOR ..."; the song was delivered as a charity song. He has also produced singles with SCANDAL, HOME MADE KAZOKU, Daigokutanji. In addition, Naoto has produced albums with Becky ♪ ♯ , Shimabukuro Hiroko, and Tenpagumi Inc. On September 4, 2013, Naoto and Hiroki started up a band called "NaotoHiroki & Karatesystems". The new band's album "Travel Sounds" was a collaboration album with many international artists. Responding to the album's release, Naoto commented ""I want to collaborate with more people for a unique worldview."
